The D. Brown Foundation Community Outreach Program is an initiative that encourages students and student-athletes to participate in the issues surrounding them and their communities. This initiative uses an educational platform to positively impact their community. Through this initiative, the DBF seeks to assist championship schools in addressing local community needs through service-learning projects that are relevant, long-term, and meaningful to both volunteers and people who are being served. Youth will benefit from applied learning opportunities that are empowering and helps to develop positive team-building skills.

History of the D. Brown Foundation

In 2013 the D. Brown Foundation and 10 middle school students participated in projects that trained them on the importance of community service through sports and academics. Building on the success of the D. Brown Foundation and the efforts around teaching youth about community service, sportsmanship, and scholarship, youth in other championship cities and schools will be participating in group volunteer projects that they select on their own. Group projects can range from visiting Children's Hospital or volunteering to read to younger students in their community.
