
The D. Brown Foundation College Placement Program helps students determine the college or university that best fits them academically, athletically and socially (i.e. financially, mentally and emotionally). Student-athletes receive supportive guidance through their selection of Colleges and Universities, NCAA eligibility and available scholarships.
All deadlines are June 1st. In order to receive funds, the student must provide verification of his/her enrollment with a copy of their class schedule. D. Brown Foundation must receive verification of enrollment for disbursement of funds.
James Henry Fields Scholarship – This $500 scholarship is awarded to a student-athlete that is entering into their first year of college and planning to participate in Collegiate Athletics. The applicant must be currently qualified by the NCAA Eligibility Center and planning on attending an accredited four-year institution. Applicants must possess a minimum 2.75-grade point average (GPA) and submit a 500-word essay on the benefits and challenges of being a student-athlete. No application or application fee required. Lillian R. Cobb Scholarship – This $500 scholarship is awarded to the student that exhibits hard work in the classroom and in the community before entering college. The applicant must provide verification that she/he has completed at least 100 hours of community service and planning on attending an accredited four-year institution. Applicants must possess a minimum 2.75-grade point average (GPA) and submit a 500-word essay on the importance of hard work. No application or application fee required. Wildflower Performing Arts Scholarship – This $500 scholarship is awarded to the student who has a genuine passion for the Performing Arts and planning on attending an accredited four-year institution with a major in Performing Arts OR planning to enroll in a Performing Arts School. Applicant must possess a minimum 2.75-grade point average (GPA) and submit a 500-word essay on how does performing makes you feel inside? No application or application fee required. Cynthia L. Crews Scholarship – This $500 scholarship is awarded to our next born leader of young people. Applicant must be: (1) a leader in the community with at least 100 hours of community service, (2) planning on participating in an Early Childhood program at an accredited four-year institution, (3) Applicants must possess a minimum 3.00-grade point average (GPA) and submit a 500-word essay on the importance of Early Childhood Development. Eugene & Helen LeGrande Scholarship – This is awarded to college student-athletes who have experienced a crisis and demonstrate a financial need for books, dorm room necessities, and emergency return home fees. Due to limited resources, emergency financial assistance is currently only available to students who participated in at least one D. Brown Foundation program prior to college. No application required. Submit a detailed explanation of circumstances to dbrownfoundation@gmail.com.
